Free Tali Fahima!Call to organize speaking engagements for Sara Lahiani ,Tali’s mother PLEASE FORWARD THIS TO EVERYONE WHO IT MIGHT CONCERN http://www.freetalifahima.org/eng.php?lang=en COalition of women for peace: Free Tali Fahima! Call to organize speaking engagements for Sara Lahiani, Tali’s mother Tali Fahima, a Jewish-Israeli woman (29), is detained for almost 8 months. Tali is a justice and HR activist charged with false ‘security’ accusations.Tali Fahima is a political activist arrested while making contact with members of the Palestinian Fatah Movement (Al-Aqsa Brigades) in the Jenin Refugee Camp. Following an attempt by the Israeli military to “eliminate” Zakariya Zubeidi, Tali Fahima publicly announced in early 2004 that she is willing to serve as a human shield for Zubeidi in protest of Israel’s policy of extra-judicial killings. She visited the camp on several occasions and began working on a cultural-educational program (a library and a computer facility) for the children of the camp. Tali’s activities in Jenin were transparent and documented by Israeli press upon her own initiative. “Fahima is charged with assisting a terrorist organization, giving information to the enemy and aiding the enemy in wartime. If she goes to jail, even for a short time, she will become a new version of Abie Nathan, who was incarcerated for a year in the wake of a prohibited meeting with Palestinians. The authorities could throw hundreds of Israelis into jail for meeting with Palestinians during the period of the intifada, charged with aiding the enemy. The first candidate is the journalist and peace activist Uri Avnery, who acted as a human shield for Yasser Arafat”. Orit Shohat, Haaretz, 31 December 2004. Sara Lahiani, Tali’s mother, is an unemployed single-mother of three, living in Kiriat-Gat. She has suffered various social sanctions following Tali’s arrest and the public campaign to denounce her as a ‘traitor’, which affect her attempts of finding a new job. She is now dedicating all her time to support Tali and to publicly advocate her cause. We call upon our friends and supporters abroad to help us arrange and finance speaking engagements for Sara abroad in order to spread the word about Tali’s case.
