Need local filmmaker/reporter to contribute to political documentary.
03 December 2004
Dear Fellow Independent Filmmaker and/or Indymedia Reporter:
This is a crucial time in history. As you all well know, the United States Government are extending their powers worldwide in a very dangerous way. The people of the US are ignorant to most everything that happens around the world save what they see/hear on the evening corporate news. This must change for the sake of us all.
My name is Christine Rose. I am the director/producer of LIBERTY BOUND (http://www.libertybound.com) and owner of Blue Moose Films productions (http://www.bluemoosefilms.com). I am embarking on a new project for 2005, and I need the help of my fellow indies around the world to make this documentary.
The premise:
The people of the United States live in a bubble. We hear of growing "Anti-Americanism" around the world, and we can't figure out why! We believe ourselves to be a "benevolent Empire," spreading freedom and democracy around the globe. We need to know WHAT the people and historians and experts around the world think of both the US Government/foreign policy AND the people of this country. We need to know WHY they think that. We need to see that the people of Europe and Asia are much like us. People are people, and we all want peace. We all want to be happy and to protect our loved ones.
I had this idea while doing post-production for LIBERTY BOUND in France. It was solidified when I saw the success and effect of the websites http://www.sorryeverybody.com and http://www.apologyaccepted.com. The world needs a voice in the United States, and I want to give the people of the world that voice... with your help.
What I need:
- At least one hour (preferably two hours) of footage captured with a 3CCD miniDV camera at 29.97fps, 48KHz audio, aspect ratio of 16:9, NTSC (or converted from PAL to NTSC) of your city/country and interviews (some details below). If audio is separate from the MiniDV, it needs to be delivered in a WAV file.
- DV tape(s) complete with catalog by time code & transcript (both in original language & translated into English) sent by January 15th to:
Blue Moose Films
3011 11th Street #245
Huntsville, TX 77340
Footage:
(I will be more specific when you contact me with your interest - bluemoosefilms@hotmail.com)
- Famous Landmarks or social situations which make your city/country instantly recognizable
- Everyday scenes of your city. Traffic, Shopping, Transportation
- People doing everyday things: shopping, driving, gardening, playing with their children
- Interviews with passersby, politicians, teachers, workers, parents, historians, etc.
(The interviews may be recorded in original language, but please include a transcript with translation in English! Yes... I'm an American who only knows ONE LANGUAGE (of course)!!)
What you get:
- 10 copies of the finished film on DVD, with no regional code.
- Director credit for your city/country segment
- Your crew, if any, will all be credited appropriately for each city/country (you provide the list)
- Monetray compensation negotiable (front or back end), ask me
- Further compensation is also negotiable (this is completely independent, as was LIBERTY BOUND) :-)
*BONUS* = if you come up with a title that I end up using for this project, you will also be credited as Associate Producer.
Please check out LIBERTY BOUND both on Amazon.com and IMDB.com. LIBERTY BOUND enjoyed international recognition including a theatrical premiere in Paris and a Nationwide Tour in the States. It also was officially selected for several film festivals both in the US and Europe. With your help, this new project can be even more successful.
I am the director with motivation, vision, and tenacity. This will be great. I would like to have at least 15 minute segments from each country or area of the world.
-North America (esp. Canada/Mexico)
-UK
-Western Europe
-Eastern Europe
-South America
-Africa
-Asia
-Middle East
-Australia/NZ
Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you and working with you very soon. I will clarify and give further specifics when I hear from you. Normally, I answer any email within 24 hrs; however, I will not likely have reliable internet access again until December 12th. Email ASAP anyways, and I'll get back to you sooner if possible. We need to get moving on this. I plan to submit it to and shop it at Cannes 2005.
