Dat is toch wat ik begrepen heb na het lezen van de uitspraak van het Amerikaanse Hooggerechtshof.

De uitspraak behandeld drie "zaken":

1. "The first category of detainees consists of individuals who were questioned in the course of the investigation and detained by the INS for violation of the immigration laws (INS detainees)."



2."The second category of detainees consists of individuals
held on federal criminal charges (criminal detainees). The
government asserts that none of these detainees can be
eliminated as a source of probative information until after the investigation is completed."

3."The third category consists of persons detained after a
judge issued a material witness warrant to secure their
testimony before a grand jury, pursuant to the material
witness statute, 18 U.S.C. § 3144 (2000) (material witness
detainees)."

Is er iemand die kan bevestigen of tegenspreken dat de uitspraak geldt voor gevangenen in de VS maar niet voor de gevangenen op Guantanamo?

Gisteren stond er ook een berciht op de site van DS ivm de uitspraak van het Amerikaans Hooggerechtshof, en naast dat artikel stond een link naar een artikel in de NYT.

Dat artikel van de NYT is op een uur tijd driemaal gewijzigd geweest en vandaag nog eens.

Hieronder wat er veranderde, verdween.

Deze tekst met URL stond onderaan het artikel, verdween dan, kwam teurg en is nu weer weg:

Ook dit stuk tekst verdween:

"A report last year by the Inspector General's office of the Justice Department found dozens of ``credible'' reports of detainees being abused. The department countered that instances of abuse were infrequent, given the number of detainees, and promised to investigate the accusations."

Wegens copyshit regels kan ik de verschillende versies niet posten, ik kan ze wel geven via mail.

Zoals u zal merken, werkt de URL die de NYT geeft niet.

Hoe geraak je er toch?

Je copieert http://www.cnss.gwo.edu en zet het in Googles zoekmachine, dan krijg je een antwoord.

Nu klik je op "contain the term" en dan krijg je:

Daar klik je op en dan op het tweede resultaat dat verschijnt.
