A Vietnamese delegation will take part in the 2004 World Social Forum to be held in Mumbai, India, from January 16-21.

The forum has been held annually from 2001 in Porto Alegre, Brazil, responding to movements against the adverse side-effects of globalisation.

It deals with issues of peace and development and solutions for unfair policies and disorders.

The 2004 forum is expected to draw 70,000 participants.

Mme Nguyen Thi Binh*, President of the Fund for Peace and Development of Vietnam, will be an honourary guest at the forum.

While in Mumbai, the Vietnamese delegates will attend the Intercontinental Youth Forum with seminars on education, employment, gender and other activities. (VNA)
