Manu Chao

Manu Chao nous endort Manu Chao is making us asleep

Comme a toute manifestation, Manu Chao plays here
As every demonstration, Manu Chao play here

So, This man is supposed to be a revolutionary, and I’ve been seeing him at demonstrations for the last few years, singing his songs and shouting his slogans on a big stage, as of the new Che or something. But everything I saw was that after a very angry demonstration, where we started having some power, then everybody just turns over to the show to listen to some music. Where is the revolutionary spirit gone? We have party and we dance on famous sweet, quiet songs calming the anger we have in our hearts.

And for a subversive singer, calming the spirits, singing about marijuana that makes your mind asleep, no more provocating thoughts anymore, I believe this man has something to do with the fact that we don’t go any longer, because we always have a good Manu Chao singing his revolutionary songs we know so well and believe in. So, instead of going on in the revolution we are trying to achieve, this man just fucks us up, fucks all the movement up.
Isn’t that all the same than having a civilian policeman beside you who is throwing a bottle during a peaceful demonstration just so that the police can afford arresting people and shoot into innocent people? No, it’s even worse, because thanks to his “revolutionary” message, we all just go to sleep getting drunk or stoned, as our comrades are still rioting in the streets, or being arrested and beaten up… or even killed.
As soon as the acoustic guitar is there, the hippy spirit inside of us comes back and is at peace with the world.
But the world is not to be faced with peace and sing-along, because we still have to destroy it.

MAY MANU BECOME RAGE !

Oh my, I seem to sense a lot of negative vibrations, brother Olsen :-)

Are we allowed to have some fun or should we all join the revolutionary army right away? Does every act of violence contribute to the revolutionary spirit of all people or just to a minority of them? Are violence, anger and destruction the essence of the revolution?

Do you think your anger will have dissapeared after the destruction of the world? If not, against whom will you direct it? ('cause there won't be any material things left to destroy)

Olsen, if you don't like Manu Chao, don't go to his concerts.

Peace,

Hate

When I listen to you it seems a very good idea to have music at a demonstration. Seems you have lots of hatred in your heart and I would not like to be part of your demonstrations ... or live in the world you want to built with all this anger and hate.

But you are right: millions are being put asleep by the multibillion entertainement business. And as many put themselves in a happy mode with alcohol, tobacco and marihuana. Good for business, bad for revolution!

... also bad for nature (bring out the same album two times, is not very ecological)

why

why do you necessarily need to see the concept of marihuana as something bad for the revolution. Many of my progressive friends smoke it, and we don't get any less combative in our toughts and actions, do we...With marihuana , it's easier to philosophy about a lot of things, also politics...

Yes, when I see my comrades being shot or cut down from a bridge, it doesn't give me will to just go dance and enjoy the music, knowing that somebody is leaving the show and being controlled and arrested.
The hate is there because the repression forces avoid me to love.

I think there has to music at demonstrations, making a lot of noise and protesting go hand in hand; making them hear and feel that you don't agree.
Olsen i think we'll just have to learn to live with it: the
people who organize big demonstrations usualy have some form of cooperation with the police or the city council and that's why they usualy want everything to happen in the most peacefull way.
And that's probably the reason why they always book people like mr. Chao or other mellow, radiofriendly, sing-a-long, hippie stuff.

P.S.
Olsen, maybe weed makes your mind asleep but it sure doesn't make my mind asleep

Jahova, please cut the religious rasta crap, holy my ass
