"Last Tuesday night a group of residents of favela (shantytown) de Manguinhos, representatives from social movements and human rights NGOs, walked along Avenida dos Democráticos bound for 21ª DP (police station) in Bonsucesso area, a protest march on police raid which resulted in two wounded, one of them seriously. Mainstrean, even contacted, did not cover demonstration. Andre Hespanhol, laywer of human rights organization Projeto Legal, forwarded to authorities a petition requesting hearing of witnesses.

According residents, a vehicle of state military police opened fire against a bar in Gil Grafee street, one of the entries of Favela de Manguinhos, hitting two customers who were playing cards. One of them, badly wounded, is still into hospital for another surgery. Residents said also that there was not a firefight with drug traffickers as reported by state military policemen and victims were not connected to drug trafficking. Manguinhos community complaint that police raids where cops shot aimlessly are frequent.

Meanwhile, investigations are been carried on by Policia Federal and judicial authorities about execution of 4 people in Morro do Borel by state military policemen from 6º BPM (state military police battalion) in Tijuca area, April 17. None of victims had criminal records."
