More than 6.000 birds dead as well as marine mammals and others, more than 100.000 people lost its jobs... SIX MONTHS AFTER the sinking of the Prestige, our governement still says 'no problem' despite of the evidences and the 30-50.000 tons of this toxic fuel wich remains inside the oil tanker polluting more than a thousand kilometers of coastline.

This is the fifth spill we have suffered in the last years, so we need you promoting and joining the next Saturday 14 Nunca Mais (Never Again) demonstration at Brussels (Belgium). As you probably know, last december 2002 the Prestige tanker sunk in front of Galiza's coast in the north-west of Spain.

Galiza is the most affected country by oil spills in Europe: the Prestige oil spill is the fifth one that we have suffered in the past years.

It is very difficult to understand why in this circumstances our governements -both statal (spanish) and regional one- have no resources at all, as anti-pollution ships, oil skimmers or simply human resources for coordinating the salvaging operations which causes errors like keeping the Prestige navigating erraticaly during SIX DAYS since they received the S.O.S. Our politicians where hunting and resting kilometers away just saying 'don't worry, there is no problem' in those critical moments.

Thousands of youth people came helping us in the cleaning proceses during the first months, and one more time the governement was not capable of managing that. They refused the help offered from other european countries in order to hide the problem in the Parliament and the international press in the place of facing it, producing the BIGGEST EUROPEAN ECOLOGICAL DISASTER. Now the governement forbids to take photos or videos to testify or evaluate the tragedy, and forbids the teachers to talk to children about the problem. And they obstructs all the attempts to investigate the accident and find the responsibles and the ways to avoid it in the future.

Qui peut emmener ce film à Bruxelles????

Le cinéaste René Vautier a réalisé en 1978 le film Marée Noire, Colère Rouge, sur la catastrophe de l'Amoco Cadiz, devant la côte bretonne, sur le désastre écologique et social que cela a causé, et le mouvement de protestation contre la politique d'autruche de la part des "authorités".
Des ressemblances avec l'Erika, le Prestige...il n'en manque pas!

NUNCA MAIS MANIFESTATIE TE BRUSSEL

Zes maanden na de catastrofe met de Prestige voor de kusten van Galicia zijn de problemen nog steeds niet opgelost, het wrak dat 3500meter onder de zeespiegel ligt verliest nog altijd olie en er is nog steeds geen degelijke oplossing voor het herstellen van de door deze verschrikkelijke ramp getroffen streken.

Na acties in Madrid en andere steden, zal het platform Nunca Màis deze problemen aankaarten in Brussel, het hart van Europa. Vanuit Galicia, maar ook uit de rest van Spanje en andere Europese landen komen mensen samen om te betogen tegen deze wantoestanden en de belangrijkheid van onze eisen te onderstrepen.

Sinds de oprichting, samen met tal van muzikanten, artiesten en intellectuelen steunt Mano Chao actief de werking van Nunca Màis. Speciaal voor deze gelegenheid zal hij samen met Radio Bemba Sound System en Firmin Muguruza een uniek concert geven in de Hallen Van Schaarbeek Ook op het podium die avond, Uxia Senlle en Ialma, Jaune Toujours en Jarbanzo Negro.

Op het programma:

12.00 uur Vertrek betoging aan het Noord Station en aankomst aan de Vismarkt

14.00 uur Muziek op het podium aan de Vismarkt, we zorgen voor een groot muzikaal feest.

15.00 uur Verschillende vertegenwoordigers uit de milieubewegingen komen praten over de dramatische gevolgen voor de oceanen en kuststroken en vertellen over de huidige toestand in de getroffen streken, zes maanden na het zinken van de Prestige.

20.00 uur Benefietconcert in de Hallen Van Schaarbeek met Manu Chao en Radio Bemba Sound System en Firmin Muguruza, Jaune Toujours, Jarbanzo Negro, Uxia Sellne en Ialma

Tijdens de avond kan U een tentoonstelling bekijken met foto's uit Galicia, meegebracht door de vrijwilligers die ter plekke mee zijn gaan opruimen.

Na het optreden, afsluitend een groot feest met muziek en dans.
