“I want the media to communicate our message around the world and to show that we are a non-violent group !”
What is your message to all these people that look television today and tomorrow and don't really understand why people come here to protest ?
First
of all I want to make sure that everybody gets to know us the way we are and the
way we act. We are a non-violent group and I don't want anyone to think that we
are people that are aggressive and that we're here to confront with the police
and to have battles. We are really non-violent and we want to show that there
are other possibilities of having a peaceful world.
We want also to show that
we don't just let those people do what they want and set up groups like the G8
and go ahead with their evil strategies. They don't ask if the people like what
is going on in the world and we want to show that there are other possibilities.
We are going to stand up and show an alternative of what is going on at the moment
!
What is it that they are discussing right now in the meeting ? Do you know what is the subject of the meeting tomorrow : what exactly are they talking about ?
A lot of things, but what I assume is very important is that
they are going to talk about the WTO meeting at Cancun. They want to make sure
that they have a strong position, they have the power and they are going to use
it against all the other countries. This is an 8 countries meeting and the WTO
has over 140 countries.
There is a big power within this G8 group and they
give little bits of peaces to developing countries. As an exchange they get the
huge private water market, and they can set up private schools. I suppose that
these are the most important things they are going to talk about.
When
will you be satisfied with tomorrow's actions ?
For me they are successful when we have the chance to have the media with us to communicate our message out to the whole world and not only to the region. Because here people are aware of what is going on and what is happening.
But what about the whole city being barricaded then?
But I think here and especially in Switzerland there were already a lot of things on the news and I think they think different about it than people that are further away, like Americans or even in Germany, not that far away. I would just like to have our message going on around the world !
