Dear Mr. Aníbal Ibarra, Mayor of the City of Buenos Aires:

I would like to bring to your attention an urgent situation in your city. For more than a year there has been a growing crisis in Argentina and specifically Buenos Aires. With the crisis there have been repeated evictions which have amounted to repeated and systematic violations of human rights. One of the most basic rights, that of housing, is currently under attack. Thousands of families in Buenos Aires are threatened, attacked, and jailed under the laws of the city because they don't have housing. In many cases they have engaged in a dialog with the owners, as is the case with the Padelai. Right now the judge has signed the eviction order to evict the democratic neighborhood assembly out of it's community center in the Padelai building. From my country i have watched with interest the development of these democratic neighborhood assemblies which renew hope in an alternatives community based solution to the problems of neoliberalism which are prevalent up around the world. The presence of the neighborhood assemblies helps create a space for deliberation and community action to solve the problems of the community and the city. The nighborhood assembly of Lezama Sur reclaimed the building long abandoned by Banco Mayo where only rats and cockroaches were living. They put tremendous work in to repairing the building to use as a community center. The community center is used for constant meetings, debate, free cultural workshops, a popular library, tutoring for students, and the office of an indymedia community media center. I sincerely hope that you will call off the eviction. Please support the basic rights of every citizen of access to education and culture which is necessary for the formation of a new country. The legitimacy of the banking system is nonexistent as they have illegally stolen the savings deposits of the citizens of Argentina. For these reasons urge you to stop the eviction of the ex-Banco Mayo building located at Suaréz 1244. The people of Lezama Sur and the whole world thank you.

Señor Jefe de Gobierno Aníbal Ibarra:

Me dirijo ante usted como ciudadano de [Country], preocupado por la situación que se vive en la Ciudad donde usted gobierna. Vemos la crecer la crisis de la Argentina, como también vemos como crece en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires. Ante los últimos acontecimientos, sucedidos en repeititivos desalojos, vemos una violación sistemática de los derechos humanos. Uno de los derechos básicos como es el de la vivienda digna esta seriamente atacado por las fuerzas policiales. Miles de familias de la ciudad han sido amenazadas, golpeadas y encarceladas por no tener una vivienda según las leyes de la Ciudad, y en muchos casos a pesar de contar con una situación de propiestario son desalojos, como en el caso del Padelai. En estos momentos se firmo una nueva orden de desalojo, esta ves dirijida a un espacio recuperado por una Asamblea Popular. Desde nuestro país seguimos con especial interés el desarrollo de estas organizaciones de poder ciudadano, que no hacen más que renovar las esperanzas de una solución a los problemas del neoliberalismo salvaje en el cual se encuentra sumergido el mundo. Su presencia en los barrios ayuda a encontrar un espacio de deliberación a los problemas de la ciudad y su localidad. En este caso la Asamble Popular de Lezama Sur a recuperado para el barrio un ex- Banco Mayo, abandonado hace años, donde sólo vivían ratas y cucarachas. El trabajo que se desarrolla es enorme, un espacio de deliberación constante, talleres culturales gratuitos, apoyo escolar, una biblioteca popular, como también diefrentes medios de comunicación comunitarios. Todos estos emprendimientos serán abortados con el desalojo, y se perdaran los derechos más básicos de todo ciudadano, como es el acceso a la educación y la cultura, hoy tan necesarias para la formación de un nuevo país. Por otro lado la legalidad de las instituciones Bancarias es nula, dado las estafas reiteradas ciudadanos ahorristas que han perdido inversiones de toda su vida. Es por eso que le exigimos que detenga la ejecución de la orden de desalojo del Ex Banco Mayo ubicado en Suaréz 1244, sus vecinos y ciudadanos del mundo se lo agradecen.
