The only concern of cowboy Bush (and his flock of American vultures hovering over the world) is to sell the world acceptable reasons for his armed presence everywhere outside his own country.

Specially the region in between Europe, Russia and China is strategically 'a place to be' now. From there you can control all other superpowers at random... Mainly their economy, through the energy supply. At least as long as they continue to depend on oil. If they have to pay more for the same basic energy needs than the US, they are commercially disadvantaged.

Yhe reasoning is the old fasioned: I am stronger, provided that the others are weaker...
