A Brief, Incendiary Rant Further Illuminating the Lies of Bush
by Libérez L'Ours Sunday January 05, 2003 at 11:54 AM

Gore promised drug benefits for seniors at a cost of $253 billion. Bush promised drug benefits too but instead spent $6 trillion on 'other stuff' , like tax cuts for the wealthy, war, and some other stuff. Soon we'll hear we can't afford it...or Medicare... Same old lies, over and over.

The Bush Regime in office and still no prescription drug benefit for seniors!

In the meantime, the Bushistas have granted a $1,300,000,000,000 -- 1.3 trillion dollar tax cut -- over 10 years, and as soon as Bush gets back to the office Monday he is set to make another tax cut to the wealthy his highest priority, this time only $600,000,000,000 -- 600 billion. That's 2 trillion right there! Now add in the estimated increased military expenditures of $4,000,000,000,000 -- 4 trillion dollars -- over 10 years, and we're up to 6 trillion dollars of spending by Bush. There's more, but let's get to the main point of this brief but incendiary napalm rant!

Both Gore and Bush promised drugs for seniors, but of course Gore lost, and Bush hasn't lifted a finger to fulfill his solemn pledge:

"We will make prescription drugs available and affordable for every senior who needs them." [Bush campaign ad]:

Gore's plan was estimated to cost $253 billion over ten years, and the Republicans hammered him for that!

"Gore's plan to attach a drug benefit to Medicare comes with plenty of detail, including a $253 billion cost estimate, enough for Republicans to tag it as another example of "Hillary-care" in a swipe at the ambitious health care reforms explored under the supervision of Hillary Rodham Clinton.

A "nationalized, catch-all, government-run, once-size- fits-all plan," said Bush spokesman Ari Fleischer, who made the allusion to Mrs. Clinton.

And they offered advice to Bush on how to combat the Gore plan:

Gore promised a prescription-drug benefit for all seniors, a proposition estimated to cost $253 billion over 10 years. He also promised targeted tax cuts. Both these promises deserve further scrutiny, and the Bush campaign needs to sharpen its rhetoric and will to frame this election where it belongs: Not on who can offer the most specific policies and reams of paper, but in educating America on the era of surplus politics we have entered; the decisions and responsibilities required of us; and the central question of this campaign--the scope of government.

Bush was obviously off-stride in trying to articulate his tax plan early last week. He needs to back up and explain this new era of surplus politics. He also must appeal to those paying more than their fair share of taxes and expose Gore as the big spender he is.

OK, see how this game is played? Giving those poor, sick old folks cheaper drugs is always ... next on the list ... next year ... or as it turns out, next decade!

The reality is, Gore proposed to spend $253 billion dollars and we were told it was too expensive! And 'surplus politics'? Ha!!! We're looking at a Bush deficit of $500 billion dollars in 2003 alone!

Bush has squandered $6 trillion dollars, and is just getting started. Soon we'll be told that the country cannot afford to help those poor old sick folks! Bush is gonna tell us Medicare is broke and we, "the greatest nation on the face of the earth", cannot afford to take care of our own sick folk, much less the poor old sick folks!

Now, mind you, I am a 'libertarian' and would prefer to have both the Democrats and Republicans go straight to Hell without passing go for what they have done to our Constitution, among other things. But we have the system we have and it isn't going anywhere soon. That's a fact. So if we are going to have a Godzilla-sized government pissing away trillions of dollars every year, I for one would rather that we take care of the sick people than squander all the money on Bush's buddies in the Military-Industrial complex.

Last month Bush signed an executive order to implement 'faith-based' charity -- essentially, to give your tax money to churches to do what they were going to do anyway. Last Thursday the first checks went out. $2 million buck to 'promote marriage'. Now that's compassionate conservativism! And you can betcha it will buy Furher Bush a lot of votes, no matter whether it is constitutional or not. But is he going to give sick seniors help with their medicines? Maybe. Maybe not. First they have to promise not to vote for the Democrats again. Haha. Just kidding. He'll do it...when hell freezes over.

P.S. Ironically, the only ones who have done anything for the poor and old sick folks are the pharmaceutical companies. Surprised? Almost all pharmas will give drugs away, or charge very little to poor people, and most of the big pharmas have senior 'drug cards'. See www.phrma.org -- and do tell your friends they probably can get medicine if they need it but have no money. That's a fact.

P.P.S. You know what the greatest irony is? "Kenny Boy" Lay, Bush's best old buddy is still on the loose and hasn't served a day in prison for his Enron company's ripoff deals! How's that for justice? We're still paying for that out here in California!
