1. Harold Pinter's Speech (right on!):

This is the text of the Honorary Doctorate speech delivered by famous playwright and activist Harold Pinter at the University of Turin on Nov. 27, 2002.

2. Agents of Repression: The FBI's Greatest Hits!
(Fairly long but contains excellent advice near the end for activists: if you are moderately successful (like indymedia...), then you have probably been infiltrated and may be under surveillance; here is how to deal with it logically and reasonably...their intent is disruption as much as intelligence gathering, so don't let them stop you even though you are operating in the open under their eye!)

3. Bit O'Commentary:

As we may read in all of the various counter-news sources such as alternet, common dreams, unknownnews, guerrillanews, and even the offbeat Rense.com, the US is rapidly being transformed into an Orwellian Police State ,while at the same time intense preparations are underway for waging war on every other continent (even Afrika, which now has some 1500 US troops fighting 'terrorism', and South America, which has troops defending Occidental Petroleum's pipeline, etc., etc.)

LIttle of this, or none, is reported on Fox News or MSNBC, though we definitely catch hints from the NYT (and Agencie France Presse -- http://sg.news.yahoo.com/world/afp.html -- is a great source for some of the truth!) By and large, what most Americans are aware of is CNBC/GE's "Countdown: Iraq" and the exciting new weapon systems we will use to defeat Iraq in as little as 3 days of warfare.

Nor are we provided any realistic contingency analyses, which is why everyone was taken by surprise at North Korea's decision to ramp up production of the means to defend themselves against US aggression (i.e. nuclear weapons.)

So we are led from catastrophe, to pre-emptive war, to debacle, to possibly WWIII. And at the end of it all, most Americans will either be wondering what happened, or blaming other countries for starting World War III. As one battlefield leads to the next, and the next, it becomes inevitable that the rest of the dominos fall --- and there is no Bush exit strategy; simply put, declaring peace would prevent Bush's re-election in 2004.

The truth is, we are looking at war in Iraq during 2003 and continued occupation by US military forces there and in Afghanistan (all of the 'Stans, actually). Then during the latter portion of 2003 and 2004, just in time for the next presidential election we will probably be bombarded with propaganda about the extreme threat that North Korea poses to US "national security", and moreover that we must pre-emptively strike them before they strike us or our "friends". But who knows, we might be "defending" Taiwan, liberating Iran, or helping Israel fight terror in Lebanon, Syria and the West Bank -- there are dozens of opportunities for eager beaver warmongers (the "chickenhawk factor again.)

That will probably guarantee a Bush victory in 2004, but just to make sure we will continue to be frightened by Terror Threats to the Homeland, with more "Yellow Alerts" and maybe even a "Red Alert" or two. If necessary, the Bush Regime may even manufacture an attack on the homeland to justify further repression of political dissent and the evisceration of the Constitution's Bill of Rights.

But don't expect the Democrats to stand on their hind legs and courageously speak the truth about the manufactured wars and terror threats. Mostly, the Democrats and their friends in the press are going to work for political victory in 2004, and that means supporting the war abroad and the raping of Lady Liberty at home.

Political activists and groups like Earth First, PETA, and ANSWER will be lucky to avoid being imprisoned (likely without benefit of charges, warrants, legal assistance or any other Constitutional rights.) There is every chance that successful political dissent will be met with harsh countermeasures by the FBI. But as we read in Guerrilla News, more insidious methods are available: the COINTELPRO methods of infiltration, subversion, discreditation, and sowing of internal dissent -- perhaps even assassinations.

Creating "regime change" in the U.S. is going to require a miracle and plenty of smart, hard work. I am unclear on the winning strategy. (Prayer?) However, it is clear to me that the vast majority of Americans have been effectively propagandized by the Bush Regime and their sock-puppet media barons. In order to effectively change things it will be necessary to gather support from the rest of the population. That will not be possible unless they can be attracted and persuaded using inclusive methods and sweet reason (back in the 60's long-haired braless girls with bells on their toes were very subversive...in Belgium protestors won over riot police by giving them flowers....) One possibility that comes to mind is using co-cointel, as well as counter-infiltrations (i.e. start joining other organizations such as clubs, churches, political parties, business groups, etc.)

You can read about some sneaky regime change methods here (this link is provided to help you understand how the FBI/CIA work and how to use jujitsu against them, but peaceful, non-violent, Gandhia methods -- not their immoral and evil techniques, which never work out in the long run anyway.)

P.S. Expect the US economy to have more trouble in 2003, so hoard your cash and try to avoid feeding the beast (but do help your friends and comrades as you can. ) Remember: waste not, want not.
