Brussels- between 150 and 200 people made it to the picket of AEL in Brussels to commemorate 20 years Sabra and Shatilla. The Picket was authorized by the Mayor of Brussels; nevertheless the police did not respect its part of the deal and did not allow people to gather in front of the justice palace as was agreed upon with AEL in order to leave towards the ministry of Justice at 15:20. Instead it has deployed a disproportionate force in a provocative style. The police also singled out Arab youth in Brussels and executed excessive ID controls. People who made it to the picket reported that the Police was spreading disinformation that the Demonstration was cancelled and preventing people from reaching the gathering place.
The Action itself was a success and included many testimonies and speeches emphasizing on the importance of Resistance as the only way to reach justice.
"it is not a court in Belgium that will give our people justice, nor the European Union or the United Nations, It is the way of the resistance" said AEL president brother Dyab Abou Jahjah in his speech to the crowd. Brother Ahmad Kenaan head of the Brussels Division said that "every day since the establishment of the state of Israel is a massacre" and added that "the only way is through resistance".
Other speakers approached the issue of Iraq, "let them come to Iraq" one Iraqi citizen said "we are ready for them and it is not only in Iraq that they will be fought".
The picket ended around 17:00 with no incidents.
The Arab European League regrets the unlawful attitude of the authorities and is seriously considering whether or not to ask for authorization in the future for its actions in Brussels. "If the agreements are never respected by the police, what is the point of making them after all" said an AEL Militant to our correspondent.
A Demonstration in Antwerp on Sunday the 29th of September will be held to commemorate the second anniversary of Al Aqssa Intifada, AEL calls already upon Arabs and Moslims and Justice loving people to mobilize and be ready to attend. The Action must continue.

technische problemen... 't zal wel

Nu is het helemaal belachelijk: ik reageer hier op een zekere "Libby" die zegt dat het artikel met het nummer 31350 om "technische redenen" op "hidden" is geplaatst, terwijl ik denk dat de site-managers (wellicht terecht) een hoop foto's heeft verwijderd die (veels te herkenbaar) een 15-tal betogers vanuit alle mogelijke hoeken haarscherp in beeld brengen. Een 15-tal manifestanten, terwijl het bijgevoegde artikel spreekt over 150 à 200 betogers.
En vervolgens wordt de "comment" waarop ik reageer ook maar meteen van de site verwijderd. Mijn commentaar is dus "zonder voorwerp".
En natuurlijk is er dan niemand die nog begrijpt waarover ik het heb.
Ik zal het hier maar bij laten zeker??
Trouwens, wie is die mijnheer (of mevrouw) Sjauqat die op 31350 commentaar gaf? is die bekend bij de webmaster?

De Politie van Brussel Srak over 100 betogers.... en we weten dat de politie altijd de cijfers onderschat. dus 150 lijkt me logisch....

Comment 31350 werd op hidden gezet omwille van technische problemen en geherpubliceerd onder id's 31377 en 31385.
Mijn comment werd gehidden omdat ie antwoordde op een comment van twijfelachtige herkomst, die verwijderd werd omdat hij behoorde tot een reeks van commentaren die niet door de beugel konden.
En inderdaad, op een zeker moment waren er zeker toch 200 mensen aanwezig, ondanks alle sabotagepogingen.

Bovendien wel raar dat jij op donderdag reageert op een comment die op zondag reeds op hidden gezet werd en dat dan op vrijdag ineens raar vindt, dubieus hoor. Wat is jouw bedoeling?
