To put things staight from the start: the commemoration was requested to and autorised by the municipality of Brussels in due form. it was to take place in front of the Brussels courthouse and there was to be a march to the federal Justice department.

What happenend was that at the very last minute people coudn't gather at the autorised site. There was plenty of police present who told anyone who came to the commemoration of the Sabra and Shatila massacre that the commemoration had been canceled. The people of the AEL asked if they could leave one or two representatives to guide the people to the new gathering site, which was refused.
At het Louise -Louisa and the Hôtel de la monnaie -Munthof subway stations the police sent youngsters home bevause they couldn't present a written autorisation by their parents that tehy could attend the commemoration. We went to check out both stations, at Louisa there were two policemen at the end of each escalators, evenpolicedogs where present. At Munthof not so much police inside the station but plenty of them at the exit.
On the way home a group of people leaving the commemoration where stopped at the Munthof station, giving the choice to either take the subway or just walk around the block. At that moment there was hardly anyone left at the gathering site.

In spite of these heavy provocations, the commemoration of the Sabra and Shatila massacre remained calm and dignified.

So much for democracy, freedom of speech, freedom of gahtering and equal rights in Belgium.
If anything these provocations proove the need for a liberation-movement like the AEL
