Fierce clashes break out in Jenin camp as Israeli tanks roll in
Clashes broke out between Israeli troops and Palestinian gunmen in the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank as Israeli tanks and jeeps poured into the city and its neighbouring camp.
Thirteen tanks and eight jeeps pushed into the camp and the city in the late morning, just hours after a curfew there had been lifted, firing guns and announcing over loudspeakers that the curfew had been reimposed, they said.
Clashes broke out in the camp, and Israeli troops fired four missiles at a house, destroying it, Palestinian security sources said Monday.
There was no intial comment from the army on the clashes but a spokesmen said he would check details of any army activity in the area.
