Campaign to free Karttula beagles and rabbits
This campaign has been started to free the beagles and
rabbits bred at Finland's Karttula breeder. Here 100-200 beagles and about 1000 rabbits are bred each year to be sold to the vivisection industry.
This breeder is unecessary and cruel and its is our aim to see it closed and each dog and rabbit placed in a loving home.
Why we want to close this breeder? The animals are kept in bad conditions. During their miserable lives here the dogs are housed in concrete cells with no oppoturnity to play with other dogs, and no oppoturnity to live their lives as every do should -free and in a loving home. The rabbits are housed in a sterile, controlled enviroment and never have the oppoturnity to nibble on a
carrot given from a friendly hand and to live a dignified life. Instead these sentient animals are bred to be used in very painful vivisection experiments such as toxiological and bone research. When selling these animals the breeder does not even enquire as to what test the animals are used in, they are simply interested in the money that they can make. Protesting During the summers 1998 and 1999 protest camps were set up about 1 km from the breeder. There were regular daily protests and a great deal of media and local interest in the breeder and the issue of vivisection. The function of the camps was to protest against the breeder on a daily basis and to remind the workers that we dont accept what they are doing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This summer 2002 the camp will be repeated again to increase the pressure on the breeder. The camp will be lasting one month,
whole July. We need as many people as possible to come this camp, so please think about joining, even for one weekend (or one night, or one week:)! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
