EU, UN, USA - STATESMAN, FOOLS OR KNAVES? FOR MID-EAST CRISIS

THE PUBLIC IS OVERWHELMED BY A HISTORY OF DIPLOMATIC DOUBLE TALK, LIMITED MEANINGFUL INFORMATION , CONTROLLED, CENSORED, BIASED AND OR MONOPOLY PRESS, SPIN, LIES, MYTH AND DISTORTION AND IDEOLOGICAL TWIST BY GOVERNMENT, MILITARY, BUSINESS, AND OTHER VENUES OF EVERY KIND. = CAN WE CRITIQUE UNDERSTANDING OF REALITY OR ONLY ACCEPT EMOTIONAL SIMPLIFYING SLOGANS, GUILT AND FEAR TO KNOW ANGELS, DEVILS AND SAINTS

Today April 11, 2002 Stephen Castle in Brussels reports in the Independent of the UK on the main conclusions of a six year research into the 1995 massacre of 7,000 Bosnian Muslims in Srebrenica assigning a major "blame" to the Dutch "peace keepers" and the UN, for standing aside to allow the Bosnian Serb commander General Ratko Mladic (now declared a war criminal - and still at large) to enter what the UN had declared to be a "safe haven" to order the town's Muslim men to be rounded up and taken to be murdered. - clearly an act of "ethnic cleansing" which surely should have been anticipated by the international team and oversight elite.

The entire military and political history of Ariel Sharon, along with much of the Israeli military leadership and politico's (all coalition governments since 1948), with particular reference to the Israeli military invasion of Lebanon in 1982 and occupation for the next 18 years, Israel's so called "defensive" pre-emptive war of aggression in 1967, and continued policy of Apartheid and dispossession against the indigenous Palestinian people in the West Bank, Gaza, Jerusalem and the Golan with occupation, military, political and economic control - surely should have alerted the USA, the European Community and UN that critical, decisive, international action was mandated quickly in the months following Sharon's election, to avoid tragedy, as the increasing Israeli military incursions, targeted assassinations, and other brute force abuses accelerated leading up to the current total aggression and massacres against an occupied and captive people.

The lax involvement, blindness to reality, in Srebrenica, and of course other places in the world (I'll only note East-Timor as another example), opens the question of the purpose, and reason to justify creation and support of international institutions such as the UN, EU and the role of the world's super power the USA, in claiming an interest in international law, human rights, and concern to overcome the abusive actions of Rogue States and generally crimes against humanity, and a desire for "normalization" of interaction between nations.

Recognizing of course the internal venues and national interests of nation states, nevertheless it surely now appears to the analysis of this critic, that the international community must now quickly create and put an international team on the ground, with sufficient force, pressure and persuasion (military, economic, political...) to send all of the Israeli military forces back to their barracks (or civilian lives), with a program to very soon detail a comprehensive plan for an independent viable Palestinian State, and commitment for implementation (imposition if necessary) that I expect will inspire elimination of the violence (call it terrorism, freedom fighters, pre-emptive self defense, police action - whatever you wish) by and against both Israeli and Palestinian people, except for some extremists that will have to be dealt with by conventional police action and courts of law.

Let's now see if the international community has the vision and determination to quickly take the necessary decisive action (that is "action") not just more talk about first this step, and then building confidence, and in any event we can't trust you, or we prefer to talk about your misdeeds but not mine, and at the end of the day you are devils, and we have the "muscle" and shall impose our will, because "justice" is not on our agenda!

We, the nations of the world, and "The Street" are closely following the news and awaiting MEANINGFUL "ACTION"!
