Something to consider.

The quiet upwelling of political consciousness which landed on the shores of Seattle, soon becoming the rage of Quebec, and the tragedy of Genoa, has left us with a movement on a precipice.

The movement against capitalist globalization- toward a world or diversity and equality, is a movement of troubling fragility. The aggressive and radical gains in international awareness and networking have come at a price- a movement which rushes forward claiming new territories in space as well as ideology at the same moment it struggles to maintain a common identity, much less agenda. Pregnant with possibility, yet fraught with collapsing under its own weight of diversity- we take a moment to pause.

Here in the space, security and international convenience of the Carlo Giuliani City of Youth, under the project Intergalactika, we try not for ultimate solutions of finality, but to articulate the prescient questions that is the next stepping stone into a future deeply shrouded. To discuss the question of how "We" can move forward; when we don't even know who "We" are.

The Laboratory is a process of attempting to articulate this identity, to produce a vocabulary that addresses the center and edges of a movement which behaves more with the intelligence of an ecosystem than an organism, which is diverse in ideologies but singular in passion, and at once the product of history but still very much a thing yet born. Here in the laboratory we look to forge tools toward a notion of "We," that can be true to this complex reality.

Through a celebration of our diversity and with the courage to discuss our weakness, we can find the tactics for growth, and the ideas with which to cast away the quickly drying skin of the last few years, emerging together as a freshly molted snake- perceptive, quick, venomous, and staring straight ahead.

The laboratory meets every day during the forum- generally at the Intergalactik space in the encampment. It is a international coversation which takes the form of mini-seminars and workshops.
