About one hundred workers of Sabena undertoke an action at the airport of Brussels. I interviewed Patrick Franscescini over the phone for a brief overview.
"When we arrived at the airport the police had closed all doors of the departure hall. People could only enter and leave through one door strictly controlled by the police.
With about 100 workers we managed to enter the departure hall. We immediately contacted the legal teams to ask if the action of the police was legal. They said it was not but and that it was only possible under a state of siege. However the only thing we could to was to let someone official come over to make a report. This would cost us a lot of money and would have no immediate result.
So we sought contact with workers of DAT. They told us that they just did an action with about 80 pilots, stewards, … at the cabinet of Minister Daems.
We made an appointment with them to join forces and protest together next week. With the precarious future of DAT, they agreed."
