The standard media distorted the reality about the demonstration of the 14th.
We just have to watch the news on RTBF to understand the role of the medias.
Whereas this event was a success, RTBF titled it « Wasted demonstration ! ».
It's even funny to watch the news speaker commenting on the srteet events ,from Laeken Palace, with ministers all around her. Media neutrality ?
RTL=Tvi expained what the european ministers ate but not a word on the real stakes of the summit , as : at which sauce the economic Europe is gonna eat us !
We watched Chirac asking news about the little Elizabeth at AlbertII but nothing about the demonstraters' claimings …
They prefer to focus on broken windows…
The small incidents (that happened at the end of the route) are used as pretexts to criminalize the movement and to hide the strong and clear message of the demonstraters.
To convince oursellf, we can just look at the AFP text or the titles or « La dernière les sports. » a belgian newspapers When I look at this, , I think I must have gone to another demonstration !
Anyway, everythink is done in order that the public opinion class the alter mondialisation movement as violence.
Lying, lying, something' s gonna always stay out of it.

keywords: anarchist, anti, anti, anti.... tonight i heard a news report about a molative cocktail, which in fact was actually one of those whipper snappers- a small pouch of gun powder that makes a snap. most of the world can't afford to cover the alternative (meant as other, not as freakish- hahaha) voices at the summit let alone aford to be honest about the other movements.
full props for Indymedia- won't reach those who don't care, but at least keeps those of us who do informed.

I was, myself, for the first time present at the manifestation that I have read about in dailies described as hooligans parties.
The demonstration(s) in Brussels were totally peaceful with some, realtively inimportant incidents at the end of it.
If not for these incidents the papers would not have even mentioned anything about them. The Polish Wyborcza said nothing and Rzeczpospolita wrote three phrases stating that from some time back there will not be any international meeting without anti-globalisation demonstarions. And there are surely right about it. Nothing about the meeting, though (which, in my opinion, was highly successful), nothing about the voices heard there.
THEY still do not understand. We have to understand them - it takes some time and effort to get the right message presented by the public.
WE have to keep going. There is no reason of not being optimistic about this. WE have got a message and WE will soon be heard.
Great thanks for experiences during the last weekend in Brussels.
All the best to everybody working for indymedia.org

well, if you want to see what the medias think... check out british newspapers... they are too busy to report about how many bombs they have dropped on Afghanistan, then to talk about any action from us... But on this side, Le soir for Sat-Sunday had some interesting views... better in fact than most main stream crap we are subjected to... still, it is not exactly unbiased is it?...
