Reaction of Eric Goeman (Attac)

Interview from T & T

So there have been some problems with a little Black Block of, let's say for the moment, German anarchists.
Meanwhile we're aware of 3 busses of Attac-Italy who have been stopped. They never made it to here. Also a train with German Attac-members were also stopped. That's typicall. A German Black Block that normally is watched very closely can do whatever they please, while others are being stopped at the borders..
The violence that there has been is used by police forces to begin riots and fear around T & T. So they managed once more in crimilasing the movement.
I witnessed it myself. I'm soaking wet because of the watercanon. We tried to argue with the police in order to get a free way out of and to T&T. I've been begging for 20 minutes but no responsable police officer would talk to us. Finally, police officers got the order to draw back a little. Now they're posted 200 metres from T&T.

so: what´s to be done?

in Democracys the people is the souvereign. So the police should serve us, treat us correctly+ help us using our CIVIL right of speech + protest. So: do the policemen need better education on how a state functions, for What the state may use its monopol on forceful power and for what not?

It´s a long way to freedom, and once you´ve reached it you may have to start all over again....

direct action

The ATTAC is crying and begging and mourning as usual, so it seems the movement is doing a great job. Still alive and kicking, making the reformists mad.

it's the black block that also causes the dead of Carlo Giuliano. FUCK THEM ALL!!

let's agree to disagree - and respect each other

> it's the black block that also causes the dead of Carlo
> Giuliano. FUCK THEM ALL!

Hey, this is going too far. Surely we can agree to disagree without
making this sort of accusation.

The breaking of windows of capitalist symbols is a bad tactic.
Morally justified, yes, but strategically wrong.

However, it's not the black bloc - the true activists using black bloc
tactics - that killed Carlo Giuliano. A policeman programmed by the
state where the word fascism originated and a media propaganda campaign
was the direct murderer of Carlo Giuliano. The moral responsibility
for the murder rests with the G8 leaders.

We can disagree with the black bloc tactics, but we should not mock or
denigrate those using black bloc tactics who are genuine activists,
and who simply make the choice that nearly all of us think is a
strategically bad choice.
