80 sabeniens die de klacht van Maria Vindevoghel en Patrick Willeputte mee ondertekend hebben, zijn op D11 's morgens in Laken samengekomen. Ze hebben een oproep gedaan aan alle ex-sabeniens om op 13 en 14 december mee te betogen. Ook ondersteunden ze de oproep van ‘Sabena Tomorrow' om op 16 december de luchthaven van Zaventem te blokkeren.

De helft van de aanwezigen hebben hun C4 pas 3 a vier dagen geleden ontvangen. Zij hebben tot de dag van vandaag nog geen frank werkloosheidsuitkering ontvangen. Anderen krijgen een uitkering van minder dan 23.000 BEF. De situatie van de bruggepensioneerden is zo mogelijk nog onzekerder want de verklaringen van de regering spreken elkaar voortdurend tegen.
Anderzijds willen de curatoren dat iedereen zijn Sabena-uniformen inlevert voor 12 december, op de vooravond van de betogingen tegen de top van Laken. Dat is niet naar de zin van de sabeniens die opgeroepen hebben om de 13de en de 14de te gaan betogen.
De 13de roepen ze de sabeniens en al degenen die hun strijd ondersteunen op om te verzamelen aan het hoofd van de syndicale betoging (Bockstael – richting Heyzel).
Ook op de betoging van D14, de NGO's en ATTAC ‘een ander Europa voor een andere wereld' geven de sabeniens present. De verantwoordelijken van D14 die hun steun kwamen betuigen hebben de sabeniens verzekerd dat ze in de betoging van D14 een prominente plaats zullen krijgen. Ook D14 ziet Sabena immers als een symbool van het anti-sociale Europa.

De 16de ondersteunen de sabeniens dan de actie van de coordinatie ‘Sabena Tomorrow' om de luchthaven van Zaventem te blokkeren. De bedoeling van die actie is de 15 Europese staatshoofden te beletten naar hun land terug te keren. In een communique waarschuwde ‘Sabena Tomorrow' Davignon en Lippens ervoor dat ze een bedrijf op een sociale vulkaan aan het creeren zijn.

Na de bijeenkomst hebben de deelnemers in Zaventem een actie gedaan voor het bureau van de curatoren.

i was too on the meeting d11, were the participation on the manifestation was discussed. what i saw was a kind of trade-union-work different from what the direction of the trade-union ABVV & ACV) are wanting for the demonstration. somethings that were said strucked me:

1. the delegates Maria Vindevogel (ACV) and Patrick Franciscini (ABVV) were really DISCUSSING WITH THE PEOPLE.
2. everybody understood that D13 they should be on the street with all the workers, the base of the trade-union. 14 december they want to be on the street with "the youth". 15 december they will be on the street against the war. "THEY ALWAYS FIND MONEY FOR WAR"
3. since Sabena is the symbol of liberalisation and privatisation and how it destroys jobs (12000), social rights (people who are flying dat earn up to 50% less, have exhausting timeschedules = "flexibility") , they want to be at the TOP OF THE DEMONSTRATION.
4. they say that ACTION PAYS. Maria: "i was in france in 1995. there was an occupation of the airport for 2 weeks in the state and the direction had to give an concession: they got 130 billion to rebuild a public company."
5."why are we so few" somebody asks. " we have to set the example, we must MOBILISE MASSIVELY. if we show our solidarity, people will be solidar with us." Besides during years they tried to destroy an active form of trade-unionism. for example they fired an very active militant, for a lame reason.
6. they distrust the corporate press. "PRESS ARE RARELY SHOWING WHAT IT MEANS TO LOSE A JOB". then people started testifiing: one had to sell his appartement, other had to cancel there holidays, there were already 2 suicides among airport-personal.
7. "we must act now; we have a lot to lose and a lot to win. "we do NOT HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE DIRECTION OF THE TRADE-UNION" they are allways advising to stay calm. why should we stay calm. we did not want this europe. we did not want to lose our job. they have always advised us to stay calm. we did 30 billion of concessions to save the company and we are on the street anyway. well we are demanding it back!!!!!!!!!! for sure we will make noise: a 2500 watt camionette will be with us.

the meeting was followed by an "civilised" occupation of the sabena-house were the curators are "working". 50 % of the people could not get any social security because of insufficient administration, although this curators are paid 2 miljon bfr. a month..... 20 sabena-workers and 4 police-cars (because there was police in civil all the time, during the meeting aswell. they got also a good communication wiht the vtm-newspeople (corporated press)at the other hand the security tried stopping a camera-crew to film, and they were not allowed in during the negotiations.

anyway a small but combative group of sabena-workers are still going counter-stream. let's help them to mobilise and to struggle. be with them at the manifestation of 13 december and after the top also. you can also visit their website http://www.sabeniens.com
