chemical industry makes the world go round

non-violent direct action against the toxic lobby in Brussel

Cefic (the European Chemical Industry Council)has become a complex network of over 40.000 national chemical federations, bigger and smaller chemical companies, thematic lobby groups, and 'senior' advisor groups'. Together these corporations employ about 2 million people and are responsable for 30% of the world's chemical production. We denounce the lack of democracy in lobby groups, they rapresent the interest of large companies and shareholders and not directelly human interests. Celtic, for example, lobbies for a lax attitude towards (dangerous)chemical substances and blocks a levy taht could help combat the greenhouse effect. <human health or the preservation of life-giving ecocosystems obviously do not weigh as heavily as the expansion of the chemical industry.

It is time for direct action!

We want to make clear that Cefic must stop their activity and we are going to stop their work temporarily. Direct actio is like a novel a kind of breaking of time and space. Direct actions are also passages to the impossible. Out of the confrontational character of direct action we want to bring forward an alternative.

We want to tackle the present ecological and social problems. Wmust go further in raising awareness and ingetting everyone involved in making decisions, otherwise we will just slip into the ump-teenth dictactatorship in whatever form.
