tonight at 10 minutes before 6, the Italian National Broadcast Radio will launch a nation-wide appeal to the citizens of Italy to act soon and save the young life of Emerson Rudd, scheduled to be executed on November 15, 2001. For Italians and whoever has access to the Italian Radio Waves : "Non solo nero", a program on channel 2 that deals with racism and problematic issues of modern society.

There have been a countless number of phone-calls of all categories on citizens demanding that this execution is stopped as a natural follow up of the articles that appeared last Sunday on the nation-wide newspaper "Liberazione".
I would be quite happy if anyone in the US could kindly collaborate in sending faxes with the many many names I have received that want to sign the appeal because it would take me one entire day to send them and I need this time to be used for more urgent actions. leaflets of Emerson's story, phone calls, translations in Italian, etc.
A 2nd appeal for Emerson's life will be launched tonight by the actors and director of a play about death penalty that has been presented yesterday to the press.
Co-sponsor of the theater against the death penalty : SOL.CO , Consortium for Social Cooperation and Hands Off Cain - International Organization against death penalty.

The author of the play declared "I did not have a specific person in mind when I wrote the play but, to me and to the actors, the man depicted in the play, originally called Tom, is now Emerson Rudd. ". Play will be on stage until November the 18th and with everybody hopes that the last day will also be the occasion to celebrate the stay of execution for Emerson. Emerson appeal has also been signed by the Master of the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of Naples University. The quantity of messages that keep arriving is encouraging.

The press conference was kept yesterday and it had been anticipated on the occasion of November 2nd that is the day dedicated to dead people in Italy and so memory runs to those that have lost lives to an injust dead in Texas and everywhere in the Us and all other countries of the entire globe. I really hope that Emerson Rudd will be saved from an injust death. Thanks for all of your help and understanding for the life of a young man that has been denied all rights and proudly kept his head high against mistreatments and isolation.
