We lost last big firm which owner was croatian state. Our Government sold all telecomunications and recourses to Deutche Telekom for 500 mil.EUR, so this multinational corporation is owner of all system of comunications in Croatia. Last year many individuals, ngo's, unions, some political parties started with campaigne to stop this biggest robbery organized by social-democratic government. First we tried with petitions against the monopoly , then we tried with blocade telephone and internet lines, some hackers joined to campaigne.All toghether organized protestes , distributed thousands and thousands of leaflats with explaining text what will happen if croatian governament sell telecomunications.Union of CT workers organized many short nad effectiv strikes with blocade telephone lines . The people were fighting with by stop-paying telephone bills. In summer this year we all toghether organized big street events in many cities and places in Croatia against Deutche Telecom and contract beetween our government and DT. But, all time government ignorized everything , continued with this biggest robbery.Only answer from government was order to Croatian Telecom for grow up prices for telephone services, so they grown about 250%.The most important seguement of national security - telecomunications finaly belongs to american multinational corporation (at&t), which base for Europe is in Deutscheland.
On october 25. our premier Racan, president Mesic and president of DT Ron Summer signed last part of contract.With speach like: << in time of global crissis and stopped investitions, today we are very proud of this moment -it is confirmation that our government goes right way to global progress.<<Next day Union of ex-Croatian telecom organized <<funeral<< infront of Government and Parliament house. They were passing through streets of Zagreb bringing 20 meters long black flag,black coffin on which writted CT(HT).All workers were black chlothes, with flowers and candeles in hands. When they came infront of Government's house they put on the ground all this things, singing requiem. The leader of Union had speach , telling to all people that from Oct. 25 more than 4000 workers from telecomunications will be away from jobs, and their families will be social problems.Also he said that Government lost 200 mil.kuna (or 50 mil.dm or 25 mil.usd) signed so bad contract with DT. All of people in Croatia knows that selling our telecomunications is ultimatum of IMF and directive from Bush's administrative.All this because we are in sanityzing coridor.
Those situation and Union's protest was very sad picture.But , nobody from government didn't came down in the street to tell some nice words to those people.Our <<important<< persons were on celebrate lunch with our new owners .
