Man gedood bij Shell-veld

Abuja - De Nigeriaanse politie heeft een 23-jarige student doodgeschoten
die tegen het beleid van Shell protesteerde. Gabriel Ayoko nam deel aan een
protest tegen Shell bij een olieveld aan de Num-rivier. De betogers waren
woedend, omdat Shell pas na maanden iets wilde doen aan de vervuiling door
lekkage. Toen Ayoko heftig in discussie ging met de aannemer die de
vervuiling zou opruimen, opende de politie het vuur.

It looks to me as if the police is setting a whole new standard on so called law-enforcement, and this following the american way,a nd spreading throughout europe and the rest of the world.
As long as politicians in our ' democratic' countries keep looking at activists as being political hooligans and spoiled teenagers, things are not likely to get any better.
The biggest problem in all this is the mainstream media, who keep describing activists as hooligans, trash, and violent sociopaths, we've seen examples after the anti-globalisation - demonstrations in america,sweden and italy, and maybe we will see it again in belgium.
I think this fits into a government-based trick to criminalise activists.
If no riots would appear during the euro- tops , the public oppinion would not approve of this grave injustice, so the polices provoces riots, and then blames the entire group of activists of being violent and dangerous, a tipical bullshit story that keeps happening all around us.

This tragedy happening to Gabriel Ayoko is also part of this plan.
We all know that the gratest power lies with the oil-lobby.
The oil - producers have the power to cut all oil- supply in the world, so they decide what happens...
Why do you think that america,japan, canada opposed the kyoto-agreement?
Because of the power that lies in the hands of the oil-industry, wich is one of the worlds biggest sources of pollution, using agressive methods to expand their empires.
The vast destruction of the rainforest, the over exploitation of mother earth with the stupid excuse that nature provides us with limitless sources,...
Shell is one of the biggest in their field, and therefor extremely powerfull, and that is what Gabriel had to experience... the multinational way !!!

We all feel for you Gabriel and your memory will only motivate the protests and not destroy 'em ,
