Picture Report of the demonstration that could not take place.

In between 200.000 to 300.000 people gathered to protest the G8 in Genova on 21.07.01. This was a political defeat for Berlusconi and the G8, ... but this event also had to bes stopped by all means possible. Police attacked the demonstration from the beginning, even before it started in Sturla (a suburb of Genova), the head of the demo received teargas.

Once the demonstration arrived at Piazza Kennedy a big riot started when some farmers went the wrong direction. Police immediately attacked the demonstration,… the details about what happened in the following minutes must be cleared out. But is looks like the police organized the riots that broke out, so they should have a pretext to stop the Demo. Anyhow most of he protestor never were able to move one feet. We are talking about more than 150.000 people.
So my picture report only covers the first part of the demonstration, as it was impossible to join the other part of the demonstration after the police intervention.

Eaven after the moths of desinformation, the protestors received a warm welcome from people in Genova.

The demonstration ended in a total Chaos. So cold Black Block could keep on burning shops, cars,... for hours while peacefull demostrators were chased by riot police all over the city.
