Uitermate bizar want het artikel was voor een groot deel geïnspireerd door Amnesty International en andere mensenrechtenorganisaties. De commentaren die er bijstonden leken zo van een extreemrechtse site weggehaald. Wat ik dacht een huisregel van Indymedia te zijn - de bal spelen en niet de man – werd duidelijk niet gerespecteerd.
Ik laat u zelf oordelen of het artikel de slogan “Geen nazi’s op deze site” verdiende. In het eerste deel van het artikel maakte ik melding van de onthoofding van prostituees

Zo werden in oktober 2000 tientallen van prostitutie beschuldigde vrouwen zonder enige vorm van proces in Bagdad en elders onthoofd. Ook vermeende souteneurs werden onthoofd. Van de gelegenheid werd tevens gebruik gemaakt om vrouwelijke politieke tegenstanders letterlijk een kopje kleiner te maken. Deze executies vonden plaats in aanwezigheid van leiders van de Ba'ath-partij en van de Algemene Unie van Irakese Vrouwen. De officiële slogan van deze partij was “Eenheid, vrijheid en socialisme”… De beulen van dienst – de militie Feda'iyye Saddam – werden geleid door niemand minder dan Uday Hussein, de oudste zoon van de tiran.

Amnesty International: “In October dozens of women accused of prostitution were beheaded without any judicial process in Baghdad and other cities. Men suspected of procurement were also beheaded. The killings were reportedly carried out in the presence of representatives of the Ba'ath Party and the Iraqi Women's General Union. Members of Feda'iyye Saddam, a militia created in 1994 by 'Uday Saddam Hussain, used swords to execute the victims in front of their homes. Some victims were reportedly killed for political reasons.
* Dr Najat Mohammad Haydar, an obstetrician in Baghdad, was beheaded in October after being accused of prostitution. However, she was reportedly arrested before the introduction of the policy to behead prostitutes and was said to have been critical of corruption within the health services.
* In October several women were beheaded in Mosul in northern Iraq. They included Fatima 'Abdallah 'Abd al-Rahman, Shadya Shaker Mahmoud and Iman Qassem Ahmad.”

In het tweede deel had ik het over de onverstelbaar decadente en luxueuze levensstijl van Uday Hussein. Dit deel werd afgesloten met een citaat en een verwijzing naar De Standaard van 15.04.2003.
Terwijl de meeste Irakezen te lijden hadden onder de VN-sancties die de politiek van Saddam Hoessein uitlokte, leidde zijn oudste zoon een decadent luxeleven. Dat bleek maandag maar al te duidelijk bij een bezoek aan het paleis van Uday, in het presidentieel complex van Bagdad. Saddams oudste zoon was al lang berucht om zijn brutaliteit, zijn wreedheid, en zijn geweld tegen vrouwen. Van zijn obsessie met seks getuigden de muren van zijn gymzaal, die volgeplakt waren met foto's van naakte vrouwen die van het net waren geplukt. (…) Een bepaalde voorraadkamer werd door de soldaten afgesloten uit schrik dat ze leeggeroofd zou worden. De soldaten noemden ze spottend de crackhouse, omdat ze er naast alcohol, tabak en wapens ook zes zakken heroïne vonden. Men schatte de voorraad alcohol op een miljoen euro. “(…)Uday's hele huis bleek versierd met schilderijen van naakte vrouwen, en er waren pakken Internet-uitprints van wat prostituees leken, met een handgeschreven beoordeling op elke foto. Eén huis was blijkbaar niet genoeg voor Uday's vrouwen. Aan de zijkant staat een kitscherige woning vol slaapkamers die nu een kamp voor Amerikaanse soldaten is, maar een harem lijkt te zijn geweest.” (De Standaard van 15.04.2003)
De feiten waarvan De Standaard melding maakt verschenen ook in het Nieuwsblad, Het Laatste Nieuws, de Volkskrant etc. Ook in de internationale media kwam het uitgebreid aan bod. Enkele links:

Het derde en laatste deel was een korte opsomming van de misdaden van Uday Hussein.
* 1988: “De dolle hond”, zoals een van zijn vele bijnamen luidde, sloeg de voorproever van zijn vader het hoofd in met een stok.
* 1995: Uday schoot een neef dood omdat hij zijn zinnen had gezet op diens nieuwe Lamborghini. Een paar dagen later knalde hij een van zijn ooms neer. 
* 1996: “De schrik van Bagdad” lokte zijn afvallige schoonbroers met een list naar Bagdad, om ze vervolgens te laten vermoorden. 
* 1997: Uday liet de spelers van de nationale voetbalploeg martelen. Reden: ze hadden de wedstrijd tegen Kazakstan verloren. 
* 2000: Op Uday's bevel werden prostituees onthoofd. Vervolgens werden een aantal van de hoofden op een hek gespietst "als les voor de anderen". 
* 2001: Uday publiceerde in een krant dat de voedselrantsoenen werden verhoogd. De hongerlijdende Irakese bevolking reageert euforisch. Het bleek om een wrede aprilgrap te gaan.

Uday killed him because Kamel Hanna Juju acted as the liaison between Saddam and Samira Shahbandar. It was a brutal murder. I was present, as was Mrs. Susan Mubarak [President Mubarak of Egypt's wife], who cut her trip short as a result. Uday hit Kamel on the head with a stick. Kamel collapsed in a pool of blood.  He died in hospital the next morning. Uday hit Kamel publicly in front of people.

*The Butcher’s Boy, as he is sometimes called, is reputed to be the most brutal member of Iraq's notorious ruling family. As an infant he reportedly played with disarmed grenades. By 10 he was accompanying his father to the torture chamber at Qasr-al-Nihayyah (the Palace of the End, where many political enemies, including deposed King Faisal II, were killed) to watch Saddam deal with dissidents. By 16 he bragged of committing his first murder, telling classmates he had killed a teacher who had upbraided him in front of a girlfriend. 
For nearly 20 years Uday Hussein has been the most powerful force in Iraq's athletic hierarchy. In 1984, when Uday was 20, Saddam handed his son the reins of both the country's Olympic committee and its soccer federation, hoping Uday could help rebuild the spirit of the nation's youth while also proving himself a worthy successor to his father. The Iran-Iraq war, which would drag on for eight years and lead to the death of hundreds of thousands of young Iraqis, was demoralizing Iraqi youth. Success in sports, Saddam thought, could lift their spirits and restore national pride. "Saddam's plan didn't work," says Issam Thamer al-Diwan, a former Iraqi volleyball player who now lives in the United States and carries a list of 52 athletes he claims have been murdered by the Hussein family. "Iraqi sports are worse today than ever. Our teams used to win. There was much pride in playing for your country. But Uday never understood pride, only fear. He was never an athlete. He thought he could use his father's sadistic approach to improve performance. He has failed."

*There were reports that Uday Hussein ordered security forces to torture members of the country's national soccer team during the year. For example, three soccer players who lost an October game in the Asian Cup quarter finals reportedly were whipped and detained for three days. A former Iraqi international soccer player stated in August 1999 that he and his teammates were tortured on Uday Hussein's orders for not winning matches. These claims lend credence to previous similar reports.

* Party sources have reported that Uday Saddam Hussein arrived at Radhwaniya Camp on 27 April 2000. Three prisoners were then brought before him, and were executed by sword. Uday has a sword which he has given the name Truth Sword! The regime and its agencies claimed that the three vcitims were relatives of a group which attempted to assassinate Uday in 1996.

*Thousands of people have been arbitrarily arrested in Iraq in recent years because of their suspected opposition political activities, or because they are relatives of people sought by the authorities. Generally it is not possible to obtain further information on the detainees' fate and whereabouts both because of the government's control of information and the very real fear of reprisals. Many detainees were executed. Mass arrests have often taken place following attempts on the lives of senior figures in the regime, such as the attempt on the life of 'Uday Saddam Hussain, the President's eldest son, in Baghdad in December 1996 and the reported attempt on 'Ezzat Ibrahim al-Duri,(14) the vice-chairman of Iraq's Revolutionary Command Council (RCC), the highest executive body in the country, in Karbala in November 1998, or following increased armed opposition activities or reported military coup attempts.

*However, witnesses interviewed point out a new and different trend: the disappearance of wives and offspring of men suspected of being in the opposition and men in the finance business. One witness speaks of a hundred and fifty kidnappings in Baghdad, Nasiriyah, Najaf and Basra. Several people spoke to us of young women being kidnapped, mainly by Uday's networks but also those of Qusay and Ahmed Wathban (a nephew of Saddam Hussein), and of the properties in the Baghdad districts of Erachidia, Dohra and Taji where they are said to be held. They have never been seen again, and they are said to be at the service of their kidnappers and senior officials of the regime.

Tot besluit nog iets over de commentaarschrijvers. “Verrechtvaardigt de levensstijl van Uday Hoessein de bezetting van zijn land? Bedenkelijke moraal heb jij.” meende Edith. In het originele artikel noch in dit heb ik de misdaden van het Saddam-regime aangegrepen om de Amerikaanse invasie en bezetting goed te praten. Integendeel. Robert Frisk schreef over het regime “Fascist is the word that springs to mind, but fascism with Don Corleone thrown in”. Vandaag schreef hij “For the people on the streets, this is not liberation but a new colonial oppression. America's war of 'liberation' may be over. But Iraq's war of liberation from the Americans is just about to begin.” Wijze woorden.
