Bush said again that United States was in Iraq because of the September 11, 2001 attacks on New York and Washington: "Iraq is the latest battlefield in the war on terror. We will stay until the fight is won." Recent polls have suggested a majority of the US public disapproves of the way he has handled Iraq, and some surveys report a majority of people say that they do not believe the war was worth fighting.
