"Reformers, radicals lock horns" is een verslag van de conferentie met de vroegere hoofdeconoom van de Wereldbank, Joseph Stiglitz. Zijn oproep voor hervormingen van IMF, WB en WTO werd gecounterd door de Braziliaanse economiste Laura Tavares Soares kwam scherp uit de hoek: "Class conflict rather than 'civil society' movements can force change. Terms like 'civil society' are being used to undermine the fact that there is still class conflict in poor countries with vast inequalities."

Het artikel "Carnival of the dispossessed" stelt dat er veel meer armen aanwezig zijn in Mumbai dan in Porto Alegre. "Porto Alegre was more academic, but Mumbai is a sheer carnival of the unlettered and the dispossessed" says Silumko Nondwangu, general secretary of the South African Metalworkers Union. Carolina Gil from Brazil agrees that WSF Mumbai has seen an unprecedented participation from the poor and marginalised communities. "That is the reason for so much sound and dance through the day", she adds."

Het artikel "T-shirts with slogans sell like hot cakes at meet" beschrijft de rijkdom aan activisten-T-shirts die op het WSF te zien is. Maar het artikel begint met een T-shirt van... de radicale tegenhanger van het WSF, Mumbai Resistance 2004: "Defeat Imperialism, Build a People's World". Verderop zegt Sabyasachi Mitra, van de ngo IDEA, die op het WSF met zo'n T-shirt rondloopt: "I completely agree with this ideology and moreover, it is easy for activists like us to wear such kind of T-shirts which don't have an organisation's name so it does not seem as if we are supporting any such organisation."

Het artikel heeft het ook over Che, "the Cuban revolutionary that has become the flavour of the WSF." Van Nguyen Thoong, an activist from the Vietnam Youth Federation sporting a Che T-shirt says, "If you are trembling with indignation each time that an injustice is committed in the world, then we are comrades."

"Deformed kids a legacy of A-bomb" brengt verslag uit van de workshop over oorlog, conflicten en gezondheid, georganiseerd door de People's Health Movement, waar intal/Geneeskunde voor de Derde Wereld deel van uitmaakt. Eerst komt het verhaal van de 63-jarige Tokie Mizuno uit Japan. Zij is een zogenaamde 'hibakusha', een overlevende van de atoombom op Hiroshima.

Het artikel eindigt met een citaat van Dr. Colette Moulaert "of Medecine pour le Tiers Monde, a health service organisation operating in developing countries, who recounted experiences in Iraq, where she was working as a health volunteer during the recent US occupation. "The US intervention proves the violation of international humanitarian laws by developed countries and international corporate houses. Even now the victorious forces are working towards privatising basic health services in Iraq and contracts for these facilities are being awarded to global corporates from the US and the UK. These facilities will initially be cheaper than indigenous ones, then are bound to go up", added Dr Colette."

Het artikel "Fighting 'neo-liberalism' on Protest Boulevard" beschrijft de vele spontane betogingen die plaatsvonden op de terreinen van het WSF. "The melee on the 'Protest Boulevard' was in sharp contrast to the near empty halls for the seminars", noteert de krant.

"Anti-US protests mark closing of MR-2004" heeft het over de slotbetoging van het alternatieve forum Mumbai Resistance 2004. "MR-2004 ended its convention with a massive demonstration against the US-led occupation of Iraq". Deze krant schat het aantal deelnemers optimistisch op een 30.000. Het artikel gaat voort: "The convention marked the end of a peaceful but fierce debate between the radical left position on globalisation and the 'NGO-Gandhian' left symbolised by WSF. However, one must concede there was a free-flow of activists and ideas between them."
