His Royal Majesty Akahi Nui of the Kingdom of Hawaii Spent the Day with Seventh Grade Social Studies Students
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 23, 2003
His Royal Majesty Akahi Nui of the Kingdom of Hawaii was invited to visit Kalama Intermediate on the island of Maui, to spend the day with Mr. Wimberly's seventh grade Social Studies classes. His Royal Majesty answered questions the student's had prepared, and expressed his intention that the correct history of Hawaii be taught in the schools. Her Royal Majesty Akahi Wahine explained the significance of the symbols on the Royal Standard, (which was formerly only raised in the presence of Alii) and explained how His Royal Majesty Akahi Nui has given the flag to the Poe (People) of the Kingdom of Hawaii Nation. Dr. Solomon Nalua'i gave a brief outline of his 1964 doctorate thesis on the genealogy and migrations of the Polynesian/Hawaiian people, and spoke of the meaning of Sovereignty, and the little known legal implications of the United States Congress's Akaka Bill (the Bill to kill the identity of the Na Kanaka Maoli people, rob them of their entitlements, and strip them forever of their sovereignty), which is a danger to the children of our future.
