"Basra is ingenomen, toch weer niet, toch wel, toch niet". Constant werden werden we in het beginvd de oorlog overladen met berichten over het vallen van de stad Basra. Wat veel minder aan bod komt, is dat ze daar al drie weken zonder water zitten.
De coalitie van witte christenhonden vermoordt niet alleen burgers in naam van de vrijheid, ze laten ze gewoon sterven.
Al drie weken zit de stad Basra zonder water. 1.300.000 mensen zitten daar al drie weken zonder water en zonder elektriciteit. Dokters vrezen voor een epidemie.
"The shortage of drinking water is a problem across southern Iraq."
"One resident in the centre of Basra said: "Bush bad. Blair bad. They destroyed our water and electricity."
Another, Axad Toblanid, 50, an engineer, said: "We are unhappy with this freedom. We have no water. We have complained to the British army about this but they are not doing anything.
"It is not safe. The British army say, 'we are not policemen.' It is the rule of international law that any town where the army is in control must protect us, but they don't."
Ook zouden er nog steeds een paar honderd aanhangers van Saddam tegenstand bieden in Basra.
"There are reports that a few hundred Fedayeen, the fighters that were reputed to be most loyal to Saddam Hussein, are still holed up in the city,"
Voor zover ik weet, zitten ook de andere steden zonder water of stroom.
Mensen laten creperen, in naam van de vrijheid?
