The DHKP (Revolutionary People's Liberation Party) from Turkey denounces the aggression against Iraq and calls for resistance to imperialism.
No: 24 Date: March 21, 2003
THE ATTACK IS AIMED NOT AT IRAQ BUT AT THE PEOPLES OF THE WORLD AND IS AIMED AT CONQUERING THE WORLD
The Empire Will Not Win!
Bombs are raining down on Baghdad. American imperialism has carried out the attack it has been announcing it would do for months, despite opposition from tens of millions across the world and despite failing to win approval from the institutions the imperialist system itself created.
The attack is an attack to declare and to make others accept the American Empire.
To be able to achieve this aim the objective of the attack is to intimidate the peoples of the world.
THE EMPIRE'S AIMS HAVE BEEN MADE CLEAR!
There is nothing secret or hidden about America's attack having as its aim the achievement of an American Empire.
After the September 11, 2001 attacks which hit the USA's economic and military centres, when the USA placed the attack on Afghanistan on its agenda, this aim was not so obvious and visible in certain quarters.
The attack was carried out under the cover of being "a struggle against terrorism".
However, this process began well before the attack on Afghanistan..
Already in 1991 in Iraq, then in Yugoslavia and after that in Afghanistan, the aggressive nature of imperialism was openly displayed, and as a continuation of its plans to force the world to its knees, it set in motion against Iraq a gigantic military mechanism together with the collaborationist governments that depend on it.
All these attacks were said to be in the period of a "new world order".
All these attacks came about in a period of tyranny and injustice camouflaged under the name of "globalisation".
The "new" world order is none other than the barbarism and horror experienced by the peoples for centuries at the hands of former empires, carried into our own day.
After the USSR was destroyed, it was not for nothing that a process started which was given the name of a "unipolar world". For the USA, as the centre of the "unipolar world", the "right" of the USA to intervene in any corner of the world was to be made an accepted fact by all.
The first Iraq war and the attacks on Yugolavia and Afghanistan were attacks carried out as part of this strategy. In the conditions of this period, the justifications advanced are characteristically not of importance. But the "justifications" which could cover these aims up to an obvious degree included the annexation of Kuwait, the blood spilled in the Balkans and the September 11 actions.
With the attack on Iraq, the USA openly revealed its strategy for empire.
It has no aim, no excuse other than an imperial one.
THERE IS NO END TO THE "LISTS": "EVERYONE" WILL HAVE THEIR TURN!
This is the truth that everyone who sees America's strategy for empire needs to comprehend.
Our organisation drew attention to this in a statement when we were put on a list of "targeted organisations" by America.
There is no end to the lists. All the countries that in one way or another have struggled against America, all the organisations which to a greater or lesser extent have opposed the American Empire have had their names put on the "list".
All those who are not in total agreement with the American Empire, like European countries, and international institutions which are important parts of imperialism like the UN and NATO will also be targeted by the USA.
The situation of the peoples of the world, all organised forces, progressive, democratic and revolutionary forces is that they must target the American Empire and its collaborators if they do not want to be targets themselves.
In a world where the strategy for empire is spelled out so clearly, all opposition forces must also clarify their own aims. Aims like the "humanising of globalisation", defended by people like Bill Gates, attitudes such as "no to war also means opposing terrorism" which deny the peoples the right to resist, and currents which favour "pacifism" and "civil society" will be of benefit to the work of the American Empire.
Our Party appeals to the peoples of the world to embark on the revolutionary struggle with the aim of establishing people's power in order to oppose imperialism. In this way the chains of the Empire will be broken.
BEING PRO-AMERICAN MEANS BEING AN ACCOMPLICE IN ALL THE EMPIRE'S CRIMES!
The AKP (Justice And Development Party) government and the oligarchy as a whole (note: in Turkey) have blood-stained hands in the Iraq massacre as a result of being accomplices in the unjust and illegal assault. The various contradictions which have arisen from the start between the USA and the oligarchy in no way can cover up their guilt.
In almost every period such contradictions have arisen between the imperialists and their collaborators.
In supporting US imperialist aims, the oligarchy is also putting forward its own local and racist aims. This is the source of the contradictions.
While America wants to order the Middle East in a form that "will consolidate its Empire", it is not taking seriously the oligarchy's objections and wishes with regard to the "Kurdish question". The Kurdish question is a sole, priority and basic question for the oligarchy while for the USA it is an issue it needs in order to serve its own interests.
In one way or another, these contradictions will continue; but in the end it will be resolved within the network of collaboration, on the basis of the one who has more authority.
Our country's dependence on imperialism is deep and the oligarchy will not be able to raise an objection to it. Because these problems are the kind that arise between masters and servants. A resistance can be put into effect which operates outside of imperialism's network and which fights under the banner of independence.
The AKP government and General Staff are henchmen in the Iraq massacre.
Tomorrow they will also be accomplices in other crimes of the US Empire.
All the collaborationist governments in the world will share the same fate.
THE WAR IS A WAR THAT HAS BEEN STARTED AGAINST OUR PEOPLE!
If the attack is immediately felt by the people of Iraq, it is just as close to all the peoples of the world. This is true both politically and in practical terms.
It is inevitable that the rising anger against the American Empire and the imperialist system that America represents is directed at the systems in the neo-colonial countries that are kept on their feet with the support of the USA. The governments of other imperialists and neo-colonial countries will have to resort to yet more repression and terror against their own peoples in order to prevent the "inevitable". It doesn't take a special gift of prophecy to predict this; it is visible now and will be seen from now on.
Poverty, isolation and torture will gradually blight all countries and every moment of our lives. While the empire strategy of the USA has been in force for more than one or two years, the reality of at least the last 10 years in our own country is that the USA's collaborators harmonising with this system of unbridled plunder and massacres has boosted repression, violence and attacks aimed at causing disorganisation.
The executions and disappearances which started in the 1990s and which in spite of everything did not destroy the revolutionary movement, followed by the F-Type prisons and massacres at the start of this century, are not exceptional practices but are the results of this policy.
The AKP government reached a decision to support the American attack at the same time as it also decided to launch attacks on the people. Nobody should have any doubts about this. On this point, our Party persisted in calling for struggle against AKP collaborationism by all sections which were committing various errors and had various expectations; in our country today, it states that the struggle against America is a struggle against the AKP government.
THE LAST WORD WILL BE SPOKEN BY THE PEOPLES WHO RESIST!
The US Empire can give its relentless attacks the name of "shock and awe operations". It can openly state that it wants to "terrify" the people of Iraq and all the peoples of the world. This is in harmony with the characteristics of an empire. It must be known that there is no limit to American savagery, violence and barbarity. But at the same time this is its weak spot. It is a statement of its powerlessness. Every step it takes towards empire means at the same time another step taken towards its own collapse.
Every bomb that falls on Baghdad opens a wound in the hearts of the peoples of the world. And every bomb that falls turns the anger in our hearts into a volcano.
Since the USA announced its attack on Iraq, the peoples of the world have so far passed the test well, despite lack of organisation, and civil society and reformist tendencies being widespread.
At the point that has been reached, the peoples of the world and the American Empire are clearly confronting one another, and America has not taken a step back and has not stopped.
The peoples of the world also have not taken a step back at this point and they must must develop their own struggle in order to move forward.
Our people! Peoples of the world!
It is in our hands to turn every step taken towards an American Empire into its collapse.
If we reject the thoughts imperialism injects into the minds of the peoples and we organise;
If we reject the attitude that it is just and legitimate to "stay within the law", an attitude which is nothing other than an illusion created by imperialism, if we form our struggle on the basis of the rightness and legitimacy of our struggle;
If we pose socialism as an alternative to capitalism rather than the indefinite "another world is possible"; if we organise the revolutionary struggle against collaborationist governments instead of relying on this or that ruling class and this or that country;
It will not be America that wins, it will be the peoples of the world.
Our Party is certain that the struggle of the peoples of the world will develop in this direction.
Our Party, which in the years of the USSR's collapse answered the cries that "socialism is dead" by waving the banner of socialism, and in the years when the praise of "globalisation" and theories that "imperialism has changed" were much in demand, imparted the information that nothing about it has changed in our day, today calls on our people and the peoples of the world to organise themselves to turn the wheel of history against the Empire and to speed up its course.
Let us oppose the USA's attack on Iraq, wherever we are and in whatever form! Let us raise higher the struggle against the imperialist and neo-colonial governments!
And through the resolve of our struggle, let us put an end to the bitterness created in our hearts by every bomb that falls on Iraq.
