More than 40,000 people attended an anti-war rally in Melbourne on Sunday, one of the biggest in years.

The massive rally began at the State Library. There was barely room to move between the enourmous multitude of people assembled. After the usual speeches protestors marched up to Treasury Gardens to mingle on the grass and listen to music. The rally was inspiring to see in that it broke with the hegemony of bush's false consensus. It's a pity that the event will now be wiped from the media-scape (fickel as it is) due to the horrible bombings in Bali.

The demonstration, organised by the victoria peace network <http://www.vicpeace.org/> was certainly one of the largest anti-war protests in years and a great success.

The questions is of course, after buying your paper and badge, where to go from here to create some really effective actions that aim at the heart of the war machine. One option might be civil disobedience against the war machine's benefactors, i.e. the enourmous corporations and banks financing the whole show. This might provide a way to link the anti-corporate and anti-war movements together and get us away from the predictable anti-US rhetoric and marches to the US embassy.
Continue breaking the spectacular false media machines grip on reality and that we're all with dubya.
