Washington DC: preemptive mass arrest at Freedom Plaza

639 mensen 'preventief' gearresteerd in Washington bij protest tegen G7-financiƫntop. De meeste arrestaties gebeurden op de Freedom Plaza (sic).

28/09 9:00am Overnight updates from Legal: 639 people arrested; 81 released last night-- most posted and forfeited. Most people (350) were arrested at Freedom Plaza. People are still @ Blue Plains and "Building B" of DC Superior Court (F St. between 4th and 5th St. NW). Still estimating about 100 people doing jail solidarity. Eight people doing jail solidarity at Blue Plains have been separated from the rest of the group.
Demands of those doing jail solidarity: They demand to be brought to Judiciary Square, arraigned together, and have their sentences be "time served."
Legal concerns: One person in jail has Asthma and doesn't have an inhaler. One man with a broken wrist was taken to the hospital and then returned to jail
Court Information: Arraignments start @ 11am today in Courtroom C10 DC Superior Court (5th and Indiana NW). People are being charged with failure to obey a lawful order, a misdemeanor similar to a traffic violation. People are needed for court-support and are urged to call the Mayor's office and complain about the MPD treatment of protestors yesterday.
