Friends of the Earth Europe
SAVE OUR FOOD FROM GENETIC POLLUTION!
JOIN THE INTERNATIONAL TROLLEY PARADE!
Come to Brussels on Wednesday, 9th October 2002
On 9th October hundreds of people will march through the streets of
Brussels
pushing supermarket trolleys, filled with national food specialities from
all
over Europe.
With this international trolley parade, Friends of the Earth wants to
send a
clear message to the Ministers in the EU:
EUROPEAN CONSUMERS WANT THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE FOR FOOD THAT IS FREE FROM
GENETIC
POLLUTION.
Just a few days after the action European Ministers will decide about a proposal to label all food that is derived from Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs).
The signal that the trolley action will send cannot be misunderstood: the
Ministers should vote in favour of labelling of all genetically modified (GM)
food and animal feed and ensure the right to choose GM-free food. In
addition,
the moratorium on GMOs should be upheld until full safety regulations are
in
place and consumers choice is guaranteed.
Don't let them get away with it. Come to Brussels and join in the first ever trolley parade!
Meet GMO activists from all over Europe at the party after the parade!
MEETING POINT:
Spanjeplein/Place d'Espagne
(facing Brussels Central Station)
9th October at 11.30 a.m.
