Demonstratie voor het Lappersfortbos/ Demo for the lappersfortforest

Rond 10u. 30 was er afgesproken, maar pas tegen 11u. was iedereen op de Markt van Brugge. Er waren drie spandoeken en zo'n 40 man en vrouw schat ik. De actie vertrok al fluitend en joelend en regelmatig werden er slogans geropen:
"Hoort het volk mort! Geen beton in 't Lappersfort!"
We zouden de Brugse anarchisten niet zijn mochten we het niet vrolijk en creatief houden, dus werd de slogan al gauw veranderd in dingen als "Hoort hoe Moenaert knort!". We trokken door Brugge en terwijl werden er zowel Nederlandstalige als Engelse (voor de toeristen) flyers uitgedeeld. De mensen reageerden vaak verrassend positief.
Eerste halte was het planningsburo dat met de mogelijke werken van het Lappersfront bezig is. Daar werd wat geschreeuwd, gefloten en telkens voor een vijftal minuten de weg bezet. De automobilisten kregen flyers en haast iedereen aanvaardde die. Eén man in een Mercedes kende mensen die in het Lappersfort zaten en een ander stak z'n duim omhoog: "Jullie doen dat goed!"
Vandaar gingen we naar het Zand. Daar kwam er voor het eerst een politie op een brommer eens een kijkje nemen. Wij deden rustig door, passeerden langs het concertgebouw ("ow ow ow! We staan weer aan't concertgebouw!"), en gingen naar de Dienst Werken. Daar gaven we een flyertje aan de mensen binnen. Dan werden we omsingeld door de politie. Brrrr! Een op de brommer achter ons en een brommer en fiets voor ons.
Voorwaarts dus! Terug naar de Markt waar er al veel volk stond (helaas bleken de flyers op). Na nog wat roepen en fluiten kwam de BOB eens langs, en ook onze alom gekende commissaris. De BOB vroeg ons rustig wat we van plan waren maar de commissaris was niet te vrolijk. Dat moesten we bespreken, maar hij zei ons alleszins al dat we niet naar de Burg gingen (hoe kon die dat weten?). Als we dat deden gingen ze ons allemaal oppakken, hun mannetjes stonden al klaar. Toen iemand z'n lip gezwollen en genaaide lip toonde en vroeg of ze dat opnieuw gingen doen (gebeurd tijdens de actie aan Moenaerts huis op 6 augustus) zei onze vriend: "Dat komt ervan als je wil actie voeren." Tsja…

De groep zou nu (13u. 10) ingesloten staan aan de fietsbrug niet ver van het bos. Mensen worden gefotografeerd en geïdentificeerd en het lijkt erop dat de groep zal worden opgepakt.

In Bruges there was a demonstration this morning for the Lappersfortforest. There were banners, flyers, wistles and a happy bunch. The best thing was that the cops stayed away. Until we arrived back on the Marketplace.

We were going to meet at 10.30 but some were late so at 11 o'clock everyone was on the Marketplace of Bruges. There were 3 banners and some 40 people I guess. The demonstration went through Bruges whilst wistleing and shouting against the plans to destroy the Lappersfort-forest. There were also flyers in Dutch and in English (for the tourists). The people reacted positively.
The first stop was the developmentbureau that's working on the Lappersfort. There we yelled and wistled and blocked the road every five minutes. The people in the cars also got flyers and just about everyone accepted them. One man in a Mercedes knew some people in the forest and another put up his thumb: "Great work you guys!"
From there it went to 't Zand. There we saw the police for the first time, but it was just a motor-cyclist checking us out. We continued, past the new concert-building (for lack of a better word), and went to the City's Works Service. There we gave the people inside a flyer. Then we got surrounded by police. Brrrr! One on a motorcycle behind us and a motorcycle and bicycle in front of us.
Nothing we couldn't handle! Back at the Marketplace there were a lot of people, but alas, our flyers were gone. After some time the BOB (cops in civilian clothes) showed up and also our famous head of the police. The BOB asked us what we were going to do, but the chief of police wasn't that friendly. We said we had to discuss what we were going to do, but the chief could already say we weren't going to the Burg (square before cityhall). How could he know? Anyway, if we did, they would arrest us all, they had their men ready. When someone showed his swollen and sown lip (happened during the action at the mayor's house on 6 august) our friend told him: "That's what happens when you want to demonstrate." Hmm…

The group is now (13.10) being held at the pedestrian brigde nog far from the forest. People are being photographed and identified and it looks like they will be arrested.
