Greek government suppresses the sailors' strike

The greek govenrment decided to suppress the sailors' strike


As a result of the Ministers' meeting at noon, the greek government just announced they intend to suppress the sailors' strike. The strike was decided, by the Greek National Sailors' Union at 5am, to last another two days, and would lead to the cancelation of all trip to greek islands until Monday morning.

The government's decision had been taken a few hours before the Union's decision, and let the Minister of Press to announce the mobilization of the workers in case the strike was to continue. Every worker will soon receive official governmental document that will force them to work, so as no trip will be cancelled.

Greek newspapers mentioned that the decision was a result of the pressure that the government received by the shipowners, as the strike has caused a lot of problems.

The sailors resist to the new social insurance law that was decided by the parliament.
