Official meeting attracts 3000 participants in centre of Brussels. Remarkable speakers and speeches by communists. Free thinkers and jewish community stay absent.
In the corner of a park, closely to the European Parliament, a fair was organized by the official organization of mosques in Belgium.
It was announced about 3000 attended the event and this although it hadn't been announced much at all in advance.
Several speeches were given including speakers of a former Maoist party that has after the collapse of the USSR converted to global communism' ('The Soviet Union wasn't too bad after all'). During their speech total destruction of the state Israel was called for. It should be replaced by a state lead by Arafat, the spokeswomen shouted.
What attending Muslims thought about this performance didn't submerge from the crowd. Unity against imperialism and Zionism is a good thing; with the right comrades.
Representatives of organizations of free thinkers and of the Jewish community stayed absent.
Several banners were present. Some in Arabic. Some in Dutch or French. Lightly armed (standard) police kept an eye nearby. Everything stayed quit.
