SALAMANCA SOCIAL FORUM ON EDUCATION AND CULTURE
Salamanca, Spanish State, March 17-19, 2002

dear friens and comrades,
In March 17-19, Salamanca will recive the EU Culture Ministers Seminar on Culture and Audiovisual, into the Spanish EU presidency' schedule (january-june 2002).
The already announced alternative meetings proposed by
Another World is Possible Assembly (including some social,
political and labour movements, and involved in the support
campaings on Barcelona jun2001 or Genoa jul2001 meetings and in the anti-war campaing before the S-11) and the Salamanca Assembly against the LOU (leading students group during the nov-dec2001 protests against the PP right-wing government new University Ordenance Law) has finally converged in the SALAMANCA SOCIAL FORUM ON EDUCATION AND CULTURE, an united effort of dennunciation and look for alternatives to the neo-liberal globalization project, and specially on its effects on the education and the culture, in Europe and all around the world. The FORUM is part of the CAMPAING AGAINST THE CAPITALIST EUROPE which coordinates the actions of the global resistance movements during the EU Spanish Presidency, and is supported by the SPANISH STATE COORDINATION ASSEMBLY OF STUDENTS MOVEMENT.
The SALAMANCA SOCIAL FORUM is conceived as an open
discussion place on three main areas: 1. The LOU and other education policies (University, School, deregulation laws, public and private education...); 2. Education and culture experiences (critical psichology, environmental education, education for peace and nonviolence...); 3. Globalization and cultures (inmigration and intercultural comunication, World Bank and WTO culture and education agenda...). Close to this three-days long debate cycles, the FORUM schedule includes an european students movement coordination assembly, an alternative media workshop, a nonviolent direct action workshop, a Situationist exhibition-dialogue and other activities, and STREET DEMOSTRATION(s) and NON-VIOLENT DIRECT ACTIONS to reject the EU education deregulation policies and in defense of public education, and against the WTO and the others globalization institutions, the war and the culture's clash.
The FORUM invites citizenship, social movements, estudents
and teachers, workers, artists, activists, to contribute in this meeting with their participation, ideas and projects. For detailed information on every of this issues, activities or organizative rules, please contact
