CEFIC action for peace

this is a report of the occupation of the CEFIC building on the 12th of december, with the aim to tell the truth about this peaceful action as a respond to belgium national televisions statement that this was a terrorist action.

two groups headed for brussels early in the morning, one to block the building from the inside, the other to do an outside action (keeping the police away from the building and create a good atmosphere)...
The inside group, who came by bus, entered the building a bit before 7.30 and started asking the people in the building to leave as this was a peaceful action with the aim to block the activities of the chemical lobbygroup for the day...not one of these people was forced in any fysical way (as we had agreed on in the preparations)
The plan was to occupy the whole of the building (except the ground floor, as this was hard to defend), but as the police arrived about 5 minutes later, the lock-on people already attached themselves to the stairwaycases of the fifth floor, in which we had planned to retire if we could not hold the whole building. But as the fifth floor was closed, we retired on the fourth floor as soon as the cops had entered by the first floor (where a window was left unclosed). Eight people went in a lock-on around a kitchinette while others blocked the doors of the floor for another ten minutes. As the cops broke this blockade, they arrested more then 30 people who were not attached to each other (with those who didn't cooperate in their arrestation forcibly being obliged), leaving the eight lock-on people and their first-aid guardian angel. First plan of the cops was to ask kindly to let go, as we had already made our point... As this didn't do the trick, some psychological blackmail seemed to be plan B - but as the activists all were people knowing about these kind of methods and believing in their purpose, plan C arised...With machinery they tried to break the lock-ons... as they were doing this for about half an hour with the result of only liberating one hand of one activist, maths told them that their plan C would take the rest of the day. D: So the police used the methods the are trained to use (and have used throughout the whole of the eu-summit): violence. By hurting an activist they obliged another one to let go, etc., etc., etc.
Arrived into jail, further mistreatment was present: withholding people of going to jail, offering animal-fat-containg waffles as the only foods to a group which greatly consists of vegetarians/vegans... As a result of the dutch people refusing to being expelled to the netherlands without their spanish, italian and swedish friends (who live in the netherlands), a cop smashed a girls head against the prisons barriers, etc etc

this text are the findings of one person who has joined the action, and leaves a lot of the aspects out of consideration. But I can surely put that this action has been performed by radical eco-activists who had chosen to participate in a peaceful action and that, dispite the aggression of the cops, no one of the activists has ever fysically (or even verbaly) offended any living being during this action (except for the waffles maybe). It shows (again) that the traditional media are on the side of the powerful institutions (that they have become themselves) discriminating billions of beings and destroying the earth.

Next time there should be some more action attacking the (traditional) media and calling for people to SEARCH their information...

ps thanx again to my co-activists for a wonderful action, for all phe people that supported us and to all those life-respecting diy-ers out there!
