-00:00 Dennis Bernstein: w Berkeley's Penny Rosenwasser of (Middle East Childrens Alliance) telephone interview: here in Jerusalem at the opening of the Jewish Olympics, eight protestors disrupted Ariel Sharons speech, one of the eight a Holocaust survivor.. people tried to grab the signs out of our hands.. Penny talking on the phone live as she/they are being packed into a police van, (sound of doors clanging shut).. now w Allegro Pacheco, human rights attorney: we're just two miles from Bethlehem, which is under total seige.. here a stadium celebration, for Jews only.. we held up a big banner calling Sharon a war criminal, yelling 'Sharon is a war criminal' in Hebrew.. we were attacked by spectators and then police dragged us out.. Ms. Pacheco: the Palestinians have been oppressed for decades, this is a liberation struggle.. we're being taken to the Police station.. because we are Jews we will be treated well.. we want the world to know.. don't support war crimes.. we are considered criminals, while the real war criminals are up giving speeches.. ((sounds of loud banging))..
-5:50 now w
Neta Golan founder of the International Solidarity Movement: our banner calling Ariel Sharon a war criminal.. people are being murdered on a daily basis.. these games are a lie.. the reality is that there are many Jews opposed to the occupation.. occupation is not a game.. like in 1936 when people knew about what was happening and ignored it.. it is our responsibility.. message to the America people.. US tax dollars creating this monster in the Middle East.. (Israel) trying to exploit the unity of the Jewish people.. completely based on force and military power.. NOT IN MY NAME.. we are opposed.. People in Hebron have been under curfew for five days.. people are starving.. no water (being taken out of the van now).. back to Penny: everything appears normal here.. a lovely summer evening in Jerusalem.. here's to peace and justice for all..
