In the following comment posted to this web site early Thursday morning by a Kanton district police spokesman, the police made clear that Indymedia journalists are banned from Davos because of previous statements by some Indymedia journalists indicating that they take positions against the WEF.
"It is correct that the Kanton police has turned back persons at the barrier who act as demonstrators or activists against the WEF01. Persons who did not carry official journalist cards and who passed themselves off as media people but who are obviously to be considered part of the activists were turned back. During the press conference on the 18. January 01 in Davos Indymedia stated that they do not consider themselves neutral reporters but officially take positions against the WEF01 and are not willing to participate in dialogie and support the calls and actions against the WEF01.
It is not correct that people have been taken into custody up till now"
