Approximately 4,000 Jews and Palestinian-Israelis gathered in Haifa on the evening of the 21st of October for a rally under the slogan "For A Just Peace & Full Equality." The peaceful rally was attended by a wide array of speakers from both the Arab and Jewish communities
Approximately 4,000 Jews and Palestinian-Israelis gathered in Haifa on the evening of the 21st of October for a rally under the slogan "For A Just Peace & Full Equality." The peaceful rally was attended by a wide array of speakers from both the Arab and Jewish communities including:
Dr. Hana Swed, Mayor of Ilabun and Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Committee of Israeli Arabs; Gaby Lasky, Director of Peace Now; Prof. Yehuda Shenahav, professor of Sociology at Tel-Aviv University and member of Hakeshet Hademokratit; Shulamit Aloni, former head of Meretz; and Dr. Mahmad Yizbac, representative of the bereaved Arab Israeli families; plus several more.
The speakers, among other points, called for an end to the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, the removal of all settlers, an end to the officially sanctioned shootings by the Israeli Army of unarmed Palestinians in both the Occupied Territories and Israel, and full equality between Jewish and Palestinian Israelis.

a related story, a Palestinian-Israeli man peacefully demonstrating at
the rally by waving a Palestinian flag, was followed home and arrested
by the Haifa Police. He was released in the afternoon of Sunday the 22nd
of Oct., with a court date set for his trial, following protests held in
front of the Haifa Police Station for his release.
